About the Artist

Clifton

A Chinese Contemporary, Clifton enjoys the fine art of plein-air.  Each painting translates the ambience of light and atmosphere.  He enjoys the vista from the rural countryside and finds most of his subjects during his American travels.  The brushwork combines the sensitivity of the landscape with an almost impasto use of color. He has been inspired by masterworks of great artists such as Camille Pissaro and Alfred Sisley.  His technique has become characteristic of the impressionist movement with his discontinuous strokes of color that attempt to observe nature as it really is and transmit it on canvas.

Zhao Huxie (nom de plume, Clifton) graduated from Yeonbyeon University as a Fine Arts Major. He became a professor at the Yeonbyeon Art Institute for several years.  In 1995, his painting, titled “The Fire of Sun”, won the Jilin Art Exhibition Award.  Clifton’s work has become sought after worldwide and he now has his own  studio where he works independently as a artist full time.
